Reduce and Remove Your Carbon Footprint
The Problem With Air TravelAir travel has been shown to be an environmentally unfriendly form of travel; a long haul flight typically generates 4 tonnes of Carbon dioxide per passenger. Many of our volunteers have expressed concern that using air travel to get to their far-flung volunteering destination will only add to the problem of climate change. Similarly here at GVN we ensure the quality and effectiveness of our partner programs by personally visiting the project locations. Although this ensures a good standard of volunteer placement the downside is the negative environmental problem associated with this travel. Carbon offsetting is an increasingly used option to combat the negative effects of our carbon usage. We have developed a carbon offsetting and reduction program that is now available to all our past present and future volunteers. Our program provides a reliable and cost effective way to offset the CO2 generated by air travel. How Do I Offset?Offsetting a flight is pretty straightforward, you simply select the most appropriate flight distance estimate from below and purchase a quick flight offset for this flight. Alternatively if you want a more precise calculation of a particular flight you can . We will then provide you with an exact calculation of distance travelled, how much CO2 is generated from this travel and how much it will cost to offset these emissions.Quick Flight OffsetsShort haul return flight: up to 1,000 miles (1600km) each way, e.g. intra-European flights, London - Madrid. Cost US$16Offset Now Medium haul return flight: 1000 to 4,000 miles (6430km) each way, e.g. London - Dubai or New York - Los Angeles. Cost US$32 Offset Now Long haul return flight: above 4,000 miles (6430km) each way, e.g. London -Singapore, London- Aust/NZ, Cost US$48 Offset Now The Offset Project You Will Be SupportingThe money generated will support a forest restoration project in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We will ensure one tree is planted per 800kg of CO2 generated.> Further Details |
