About The Challenge

What do The Dalai Lama, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Rigoberta Mench Tum and President Oscar Arias have in common? Each of these Nobel Laureates will be speaking at a panel discussion in Denver Colorado this September 16th. Other Nobel Laureates who will speak at this event include:

Máiread Corrigan Maguire
Jody Williams
Shirin Ebadi
José Ramos Horta
Adolfo Pérez Esquivel
Bishop Carlos Belo
Betty Williams
Wangari Maathai

The Global Volunteer Network has tickets to this panel discussion and we need your help. September 14-15 we will be assisting with certain aspects of the Nobel Laureate Event, while also volunteering for at-risk youth in Denver and we need volunteers.

If assisting kids in poverty and then listening to 12 World Leaders discuss their ideas for social change interests you then sign up for our Colorado Challenge.

The donation fee for this event will go towards two things: The GVN Foundation and our Stop Child Poverty Campaign. Half will go to The GVN Foundation so that we are able to continue to assist children around the world. Currently The GVN Foundation is funding the building of an orphanage in Nepal, the building of a school in Uganda, and food and clothing for kids in Kenya. Half of the funds you raise from this trip will allow us to continue our programs around the world.

The other half will go to our Stop Child Poverty Campaign. In 2000, world leaders and governments made a commitment to halve poverty by 2015. Since then, other economists and leaders have announced that not only is it possible to halve poverty by 2015, we can end extreme poverty altogether by 2025. The Stop Child Poverty campaign works on this premise, and urges governments to fulfill their obligations to the world's children. We are working to not only hold those governments accountable to the children of the world, but also educate the developed world about the plight of children everywhere.

Please help us this summer as we work with kids struggling in poverty in Denver and listen to 12 Nobel Laureates who have changed the world. The money you raise from this trip will not only allow us to continue our crucial programs but will assist in the fight to end extreme child poverty.
