Feedback from Ecuador Volunteers
Here are some of the emails we have received from volunteers about their experiences in Ecuador
"I hope you got home to New Zealand safely. I wouldn't say my Spanish is amazing but it is certainly improving! At least I can make myself understood now.
The project to build a shelter for clothes was a great success. It is now finished and being used by all the volunteers. It took about 4 days to do, but it was well worth it.
I'm staying one more week here, and then 2 weeks at Guandera in the cloud forest - I thought it would be good to see 2 of the stations and be able to see the differences between them.
Take care,
Jon Neal"
"I just got back from Ecuador today. The reserve was great; so many cool people. I had a great experience.
Thanks,
Ian"
"Hiya. Yep, here i am in Quito! Just got here last night, so haven't had much time to look around yet. My flight was pretty good - but lots of turbulence on the way from Miami to Quito. I'm looking forward to working in the reserve!
Thanks,
Kristin"
"Hi.
I have been at the Amazon station for a week and a half. I must say it is sometimes a challenging experience, but very rewarding and amazing. The people are great, I love this place.
I am teaching English classes to workers at the station and at two nearby schools. It is challenging and rewarding and I'm glad I'm getting this opportunity. I am honestly very glad that the station is so open to letting us do what interests us.
Sincerely,
Roberta"
"I just got back to Quito. Bilsa was great. I met up with Ryan and Keegan (other GVN volunteers) there. Now I am just trying to decide how to spend my last 2 weeks in Ecuador.
I did have some troubles with my flight getting here because of the volcano. I got stuck in Miami for a few days and ended up flying to Guayaquil and taking a bus to Quito but it all worked out in the end.
Thanks,
Jeanette"
"I am having a very good time here in Quito and am really looking forward to being in the forest. I will let you know as soon as I pick up a project.
Best regards,
Clive"
"Thanks. It was a fantastic group and Gaby was great. Bilsa was a very rewarding experience ....I may even return some time in the future.
Cheers,
Richard"
"I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to volunteer with such a worthwhile organization! I had had the time of my life here, meeting great new people from all over the world. The work I've done is hard, but rewarding. With most projects, I had a sense that something was actually being done for the better. I did get to go to the Tower three times during my stay there. All times were breath-taking, but I didn't get up for the sunrise. All times I tried, I ran into some rain. This has been such a great experience, and I am really hoping I can make my way to Ecuador, either at Amazon, Guandera, Bilsa, etc. I am also planning on recommending this program to anyone who will listen to me!
Thank you,
Jeff"
