Volunteer in Russia

The Global Volunteer Network currently has volunteer opportunities available through our partner organization in the very ancient and mysterious Russia. Russians are very hospitable and open people and will be very glad to host volunteers into families and their hearts. Volunteers have the opportunity to work with disabled children in special social centers, boarding schools and kindergartens.

.: The Program

Volunteers work with children from 2 to 15 years old. The children have different forms of medical and physical disabilities. Many of them cant attend schools and are training at home or in special centers with special teachers.

The role for volunteers is to:
  • entertain the children
  • sing songs with them
  • teach English
  • help with special physical exercises
  • take the children for a walk
The volunteers will work for about 6 to 8 hours each day for five days a week (Saturday and Sunday are days off). This program enables the disabled children to grow and develop through your interaction and support.

You can start the program at any time during the year. There is a minimum volunteer time of 2 weeks and a maximum of 3 months.

Because of the nature of the work all volunteers are required to get a medical certificate and a police report.

.: Program Location

The volunteer program is located in the very ancient Russian city Yaroslavl which was founded in 1010 by Prince Yaroslav the Wise. Yaroslavl is situated on the picturesque banks of the Volga River, approximately 260 kms northeast from Moscow (a 3-4 hours drive by car). You will be transported to and from the airport by the program coordinators.
