Andrey
The life of this seven year old boy has consisted of a chain of tragedies, pain and patience. On the second day after his birth, his mother has noticed that he was choking while eating. Doctors diagnosed an unclosed diaphragm, indicating that the displacement of internal organs had occurred. Andrey underwent an operation the next day, but suffered complications. He required a further operation a few days later, and spent the next three months undergoing rehabilitation in hospital.
Andrjusha returned home with stable health, although he was required to remain on a strict diet. He began to read and was interested in all the things surrounding him. He was a very clever and sensible boy, who appreciated the miracle of his survival.
When he was five Andrey broke his dietary restrictions and accidentally ate a gooseberry, resulting in a seven hour operation struggling for Andreys life. As a result of Andreys operations, an abscess which will not heal formed. Food is thrown out through this abscess, causing him to always feel hungry.
A year ago when Andrjusha was 6, his mother, who supported him throughout his operations, died. Andrey now lives with his grandmother and father. Andreys father is unemployed, constantly drunk and doesnt wish to take care of his son. His grandmother works in two jobs to support the family, and to maintain Andreys special diet and health care.
In spite of his troubles, Andrey is growing up to be a very kind, sensitive and sympathetic boy. He likes to attend the social centre, where teachers give him care and attention and where he can forget his troubles and pain for a short time.
