James - Romania volunteer

"I am finding that I miss the kids - and remember stories from the trip. It was hard to say good-bye and I hope to be able to return in the future."

Molly - Romania Volunteer

"The best part of the trip was getting to know all of the other volunteers, who came from all over the world. Leaving was difficult but we're going to stay in touch."

Davina in Ghana, 2002

The Global Volunteer Network currently has volunteer teaching opportunities through our partner organization in Ghana. The Ghanaians are globally renowned for their friendliness and have always welcomed volunteers as part of the family. Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in the development of Ghana's young people. This will give you a chance to make an important contribution to Ghana and gain an in depth experience of the country and its culture that will stay with you the rest of your life.

.: The Program

The volunteer teaching opportunities are available in Primary and Secondary schools all over Ghana. However we can arrange for you to teach in a pre-school if that is your preference.

Some of the relevant subjects are: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Fine Arts, Textiles and Printing, Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Technical Drawing, Wood Work, Metal Work, Electronics, Motor Vehicle Studies, Construction Studies, Computer Studies and Secretarial Studies etc.

You don't have to be a certified teacher to be a volunteer-teacher
If you have one or more years of college education in any particular subject area(s), you qualify to teach on those subjects at secondary level. If you have a High School qualification, you will be able to teach many subjects at the primary level.
