To view some photos of the children click here. .: The ProgramEach home is run like a family unit, where volunteers will act as a mother, father, brother, or sister. There are opportunities to teach, counsel and help with feeding, cooking and cleaning, depending on your skills and experiences. There is a huge focus on the children having FUN, being happy and enjoying the rest of their lives. This is in real contrast to the devastating conditions they have experienced in the state run institutions.The minimum age for this program is 23. If this excludes you then you may be interested in our other orphanage programs in Nepal or Russia, or in one of the other programs listed above. .: Program LocationThe group homes are located in Galati district which is about 150 miles from Bucharest (a 3 1/2 hour drive by car). .: Program ScheduleYou can start the program at any time during the year. There is a minimum volunteer time of 10 weeks and a maximum of 6 months. (This may be extended with the Missions approval). Because of the nature of the work, all volunteers are required to obtain a doctor's certificate and a police report..: Program CostThe cost of the program are as follows: Global Volunteer Network - Application Fee: US $297.00. The fee covers administration, marketing, program information, communication and direct support of our partner in Romania.Romania Program Fee: US $250.00 Dollars per Month. The program fee covers administrative charges, accommodation and meals, transportation for volunteers and supervision. (This fee is paid directly to our partner organization when you arrive in Romania). To see the cost in your local currency, we recommend you look here. The other costs you will need to meet are: Your flights, Visa (if required), vaccination, travel insurance, medical certificate, police report and corresponding airport departure taxes. Please note: There are only 10 placements available at anyone time.(1) Complete the Application Form: Fill out the application form via the link below. Upon receipt of the form we will assess your suitability for the program. (2) Contact You: If you are successful we will then email you a letter of provisional acceptance. (3) Decision Point: Once you have read through the letter of provisional acceptance and we have answered any questions or concerns that you might have, it is time to pay your application fee to secure your place on the program. Please note that we will refund your application fee in full if you decide not to go. We will also send you the link to our program guide which covers topics such as: country information, travel links, visa application process, fundraising ideas and much more! (4) Confirmation: Once the application fee is paid we will then conduct a phone interview with you to ensure your suitability for the program. If you are successful we will then email you a letter of full acceptance and our volunteer partner will contact you to ensure everything is organized. Please note that we will refund your application fee if you are not considered suitable.
