South Island (2007)

You now have the opportunity to explore the spectacular South Island of New Zealand while assisting struggling families. The Global Volunteer Network has created a 10 day South Island Adventure in which participants will have the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful and breathtaking places of New Zealand. Participants will walk into the rugged mountains of Fiordland National Park to beautiful alpine lakes with stunning mountain views. Kayak beneath massive sea cliffs in Milford Sound while watching out for basking seals and leaping dolphins. Explore the spectacular Catlins coast, with beautiful beaches, luxuriant rain forest, fossilized trees, and rare species of sea lions, dolphins and penguins. Hike up the rocky slopes of the Ohau range and look down on turquiose glacial lakes. Gaze in awe at the contorted forms of glaciers and the snow capped peaks of Mt Cook. Explore the remarkable volcanic topography of Mt Somers with its waterfalls and narrow canyons.

In addition to this exciting trip, funds raised will allow families with terminally ill or disabled children, single parent families and families that have just suffered the death of a loved one to take a vacation. Due to financial and emotional strain these families do not have the resources to take a break from the stresses of their lives. Our fundraiser will allow them to take some time for critically needed rest and relaxation.

Therefore the Global Volunteer Network's South Island Adventure offers participants the opportunity to explore the stunning South Island of New Zealand, and the knowledge that their efforts and money will directly benefit many New Zealand families.
