Location and Dates

New Zealand lies in the heart of the South Pacific Ocean, 1600km south-east of Australia. It stretches 1600km from north to south. The North Island (115,000 sq km/44402 sq mi) and the South Island (151,000 sq km/58301 sq mi) are the two main land masses; the next largest is Stewart Island (1700 sq km/656 sq mi). The entire landmass of New Zealand is similar in size to the state of Colorado or the country of Italy. The North Island has a number of large (and active) volcanoes and numerous areas of thermal activity. The South Island environment is markedly different from the North and is dominated by the Southern Alps - a spine of magnificent mountains running almost its entire length. Along the West coast of the South Island you will also find stunning glaciers and large areas of untouched cool temperate rainforest.

New Zealand is a developed nation that enjoys a similar standard of living to other first world countries. The quality of goods and services are high, and often offer excellent value for money. Crime rates are slightly lower than in most other developed nations.

Participants of the South Island Adventure will be asked to locate their own flights to Queenstown, New Zealand. Participants will meet at the Queenstown Vistors Center.

From the Visitors Center the participants will be picked up driven to Fiordland National Part to begin their adventure.

Participants will finish their adventure in Christchurch. Participants may then continue traveling, on their own, through New Zealand or catch connecting flights home.
