Romanian Children's Fund
Our walk through Spain, The Camino de Santiago, will support GVN Foundation's Romanian Children's Fund. Our partner in Romania, a Christian Mission which cares for disabled orphans, needs funding to pay for a speech therapist and a physical therapist for the children for the next 2-3 years.
There are four group homes, and we will meet with orphans aged from ten year old children to young adults. The children have suffered so much at a young age, but with your help they will see a brighter future.
Each home is run like a family unit, where GVN volunteers act as a mother, father, brother, or sister. Our volunteers teach, counsel and help with feeding, cooking and cleaning. There is a huge focus on the children having FUN, being happy and enjoying the rest of their lives. This is in real contrast to the devastating conditions they have experienced in the state run institutions.
When our team arrives we will be split among the houses to visit and eat with the children. During our project day we will help volunteers and the partner directors run a Special Olympics for the orphans.
By joining our Camino de Santiago adventure you will be providing these kids with a desperately needed physical therapist, a speech therapist and, more importantly, an example of adults who care about their well being.
