About The Peruvian Children's Fund
The Peruvian Children's Fund was set up to support our partners in Peru. The funds raised from this trip will allow our partner to refurbish the inside of the orphanage, build a new kitchen and save funds to provide their girls with scholarships to college. 25% of money donated will go directly to our Peruvian partner, for the construction a kitchen, the refurbishing of the orphanage and a scholarship fund for the orphans. 25% will go to The GVN Foundation. 50% will go towards our Stop Child Poverty Campaign. The Stop Child Poverty Campaign, co-founded by GVN and GVN Foundation, is dedicated to ending extreme child poverty world wide.
The Anta Cuzco Orphanage
The girls of the Anta Cuzco orphanage are either orphans or disadvantaged youth (their relatives do not have enough funds to support them). Many of them struggle with the emotional distress of having been abused prior to their entrance into the orphanage.
The orphanage was funded through the Catholic Church until a few years ago. Since funding has dried up the nuns who run the facility have had a difficult time maintaining the orphanage. In addition to sheltering about 15 disadvantaged girls, the orphanage provides 100 children from a nearby village with lunch everyday. The nuns must cook a hundred meals over a wood burning fire in an inadequate kitchen. In order to feed these children the orphanage desperately needs an updated and functional kitchen.
Additionally the orphanage itself is in a state of disrepair and is in need of refurbishing. Finally the nuns are dedicated to educating their charges but lack the funding to send the older young women to college. Part of the funds that you raise from this trip will be placed in a college scholarship fund so these bright, young women can eventually attend college in Cuzco.
