Location and Dates

May 11-25, 2008

El Camino de Santiago is located in the north of Spain. Participants of this fundraiser will travel to Spain for the walk. After the walk participants will travel to Bucharest, Romania which is located in Eastern Europe.

The 2008 walk will take place between May 11-25.

Participants will be asked to locate their own flights/train ride to the beginning of the Camino walk in the city of Ponferrada (please see the map of the Camino below for an exact location). Please note participants are advised to fly into Madrid and then take a train/bus to Ponferrada.

From Ponferrada, May 11, participants will have a day to rest and our walk coordinator will conduct an orientation. The next day, May 12, the walk will commence. We will walk for 9 days through the Spanish countryside until we end in Santiago de Compostela. After an evening in Santiago we will wake the next day and travel to Madrid for our flight to Bucharest, Romania.

Upon our arrival at our partner's program we will spend a day and a half with the orphans in the group homes. We will play games with the kids until our farewell dinner Saturday, May 24.

After our drive back to Bucharest May 25th, participants shall catch their connecting flights home.

We have included a small map, here.
