Requirements for the Machu Picchu Trek

General Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be physically fit (Please see frequently asked questions 'How fit do I need to be?)
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Must have a teamwork mentality

Sponsorship Requirements

The cost of this trip is $3,850.00 USD. This price covers the following:

Logistics Fee - $1,850.00 USD

-$350 USD Global Volunteer Network Deposit - A US $350 non-refundable deposit to be paid to GVN when you apply to join the climb team. This fee covers administration, marketing, program information and communication. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable and if you decide not to participate.

-$1,500 USD Trek Fee - US $1,500 will go to our travel partner who will plan all of the logistical aspects of this trip.

The Peruvian Children's Fund - $2,000 USD

$2,000 USD Peruvian Children's Fund - 25% of money donated will go directly to our Peruvian partner, for the construction a kitchen, the refurbishing of the orphanage and a scholarship fund for the orphans. 25% will go towards the GVN Foundation. 50% will go towards our Stop Child Poverty Campaign. The Stop Child Poverty Campaign, co-founded by GVN and GVN Foundation, is dedicated to ending extreme child poverty world wide. Please note that WorldPay takes a 4.5% commission for credit card purchases before GVN receives the funds. Donations made to GVN by American donors are tax-deductible. Non-US donors cannot receive a tax-exemption.

Any money raised in excess of US $3,850 will be applied to the percentages mentioned above and sent to our Peruvian partner for the orphans of the Anta Orphanage.

The fees for this program include:
  • All specified road transfers by private bus
  • B&B; accommodation in Cuzco
  • Half day guided tour of Cuzco
  • All Inca Trail & Macchu Picchu entrance fees
  • English-speaking professional guides on the trek with cooks & porters as mentioned below
  • All meals on the trek (4 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners, daily morning snack & daily afternoon tea except on final day)
  • One hot shower ticket per person at Winaywayna
  • Bus ticket from Macchu Picchu ruins to Aguas Calientes
  • Train ticket (backpacker service) from Aguas Calientes to Cuzco
  • To/From bus transfer from Cuzco to Anta
  • Lodging in Anta Cuzco
  • Specified meals in Anta Cuzco
The fees for this program do not include:
  • Additional meals in Cuzco
  • Lunch & dinner on final day of trek
  • Optional visit to hot springs at Aguas Calientes ($1.50 entrance fee)
  • Drinks
  • Items of a personal nature
  • Gratuities
  • Travel Insurance
  • International flights from participant's home country to Cuzco and back
