Security Project for Community of former guerrillas Blinded in El Salvadors Civil War

El Salvadors 1992 Peace Accords, that brought to the end the countrys 12-year civil war, provided financial support for housing and re-insertion projects for war wounded. With this assistance, blinded former guerrillas in the Frente Farabundo Mart para la Liberacin Nacional (FMLN) created The Heroes Community, consisting of twenty-two homes and located just outside of the countrys capital, San Salvador. Their livelihood is now being threatened because these families homes are being robbed. Consequently the community is organizing to install security provisions, including a protective wall and razor wire.

These blind ex-combatants have struggled to remain in the community close to the capital city, despite many challenges, because this is their best opportunity to participate in the countrys economic, social and political life. The situation for the war wounded in El Salvadors countryside is more difficult because of limited accessibility and resources. To implement this security plan and remain in their homes in The Heroes Community, they need your support. Below is the cost for this project.
