GVN Community Fund - Romania Projects
The Romania Village Program
As well as providing safe and loving homes for 33 Romanian Orphans the Tanner Romania Mission also aims to support other parts of their local community with any additional funding they receive.
One part of their community outreach is the support of single elderly women in the local area. TRM supplies food, winter wood, and clothing to the woman and assists with repairs to their small one room homes.
TRM also aims to give emergency funding to villagers who are of medical assistance.
TRM supports several disabled children in the Nicoresti area that would otherwise be put in institutions. This is done by giving the family a small income ($30) per month. With this the families are able to keep the child at home with them.
TRM supports a child in an AIDS group home
TRM supports a local disabled couple that have no real means looking after themselves. They go out to work in the fields daily for food given them by villagers and TRM is able to give them a small stipend for pocket money. In the past, a volunteer built a 2 room house for them to live in and they have become another part of TRM's extended family.
TRM aims to we re-do one classroom at the local public school each year. The present equipment dates from 1920 and desperately needs updating.
TRM searches out local children that do not attend school and supplies them with clothing and funding so they can obtain an education. Sometime local support is as simple as buying a child a pair of shoes and sometimes it also involves stepping in on a child's behalf to convince their parents to let them leave the fields and go to school.
The projects the Tanner Romania Mission has listed are in addition to caring for their own 33 children. Your support is much appreciated.
