GVN Community Fund - Ugandan Education Fund

Our partner in Uganda, the African Child Foundation, offers education to AIDS orphans and needy children in Ndejje. The African Child Foundation is committed to addressing the lack of educating facilities in Ndejje by constructing and establishing a primary school. The school will focus on children who have not been attending school, due to a lack of school fees and other social problems. They hope this will help to mitigate the impacts of an illiterate society and provide these children with a future.

In order to assist the building of this school in Uganda, Africa the Global Volunteer Network has created The Ugandan Education Fund. We have organized a fundraising hike to Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise money for this fund. Our fundraising hike will take participants to the summit of Africas tallest free standing mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, and then across the border of Tanzania to Ndejje, Uganda. In Ndejje all participants will have time to volunteer in the community their funds will go to help.

50% of the money raised for this trip will go directly to the construction of this primary school, while the other 50% will pay for their unique climbing experience.

If you're interested in the Kilimanjaro climb you may want to visit our microsite: http://communityfund.volunteer.org.nz/

If climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is not a realistic goal for you our partner would appreciate a donation.
